J Turner Electrical (Pty) Ltd was awarded the electrical installation project for SuperSpar & Tops Rivonia by Spar Group.
We started this project in the middle of the 2nd wave of Covid. Through proper management of Health and Safety protocols we were able to complete the project without having an incident of a positive Covid case. We complied with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993) and had a fully inclusive Health & Safety file on site which complied in all areas (i.e. training, skills, etc.)
A dedicated team was on site who was under the management of a capable experienced project manager who worked closely with the engineer and other contractors.
All materials used were SABS approved, mostly comprising of CBi Socket Outlets and ABB Circuit Breakers.
We followed the main contractor’s program and although it was tight at times, we managed to finish the project well within the time frame provided with lots of after-hours work.
The site was cleaned and all waste materials were removed on a daily basis.
Unfortunately, we went over the budget, but this was due to extra work requested by Spar. If this extra work was not requested, we would have stayed within the budget.






There was no ceiling in the shop and the roof was approximately 9m high. This resulted with us having to install the cable tray and wiring ducts by using scaffolding. This cable tray had to be 100% level, straight and had to be painted black since it is exposed to the public.

Spar supplied a program of works which was followed timeously.
With all extra work that was requested and generator arriving 8 days before opening, we still managed to complete the project within the time frame, which was 1 week earlier.
No material was lost or stolen due to proper stock control and security measures implemented, thus not causing any unnecessary financial loss to the Client.
