J Turner Electrical was awarded the electrical installation contract on this project and signed the JBCC contract. We had a dedicated team on site, working in close conjunction with the architect, builder and all other contractors.
We fully complied with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993) and had a fully inclusive Health & Safety file on site which received excellent scores in terms of compliance in all areas. (ie. training, skills etc.) All materials used were SABS approved.
We followed the main contractor’s program and although it was tight at times we managed to finish the projects well within the time frame provided.
On the original plans, the architect specified at least 35% more lighting than what was installed in the end. We consulted with the client directly to decrease the quantity of lights in the house. We drew up a new plan for outside lighting which resulted in less light points but without any influence on the ambience of the property. There was a massive cost saving of around R150 000 to the client.
With the site being in Pretoria, there was no need for a site office as we were able to manage and control the project from our offices in Queenswood.
